“Children – victims of a war they are not responsible for”

We must act now!

8 years of war has ravaged Yemen such that it has become the world’s largest humanitarian crisis.
More than 2 million families are internally displaced.
One child dies every 10 minutes and 4 out of 5 are in urgent need of life-saving assistance.
400,000 are one step away from dying of hunger if they do not get the support they need.

This is what the children of Yemen are facing today:

No access to clean water

They walk long distances for a few liters that will still be inadequate for all their needs. Recent outbreaks of cholera (a disease caused by drinking infected water) have already taken the lives of thousands of Yemenis in the past 5 years.

No access to essential health services

Only 51% of health facilities are functioning in Yemen. 4 out of 5 Yemenis do not have access to basic healthcare. Recent disease outbreaks (such as COVID, Cholera, diphtheria) and injuries from the war have put many in urgent need.

No access to education

A severe education crisis is looming, with almost 6 million children going through disruptions to their education which can have long-term consequences for the existing as well as future generations.

This is not just a Yemeni problem. This is OUR problem.

This is Meshal. He is only 4 years old and he is fighting malnutrition. As a result, Meshal is very skinny and his bones and ribs are bulging out of his body. On his fingers, there were wounds caused by him chewing them out of extreme hunger.

Meshal’s mother, Mariam, camps in a makeshift tent that is 20 miles from the nearest hospital. In order for her to get to the hospital to receive treatment and nourishment for her child, she has to walk the entire distance (almost 7 hours).

Meshal is just one of the 400,000 children that are one step away from dying of hunger if they do not urgently receive our help.

We must ask ourselves,

Is it okay for me to ignore this group of people?

What if it were my child instead?

Would you want your children to go through what the children of Yemen are suffering from?

Just as you are reminding yourself to pay for your kid’s school, their food, and drink -and just like you have to pay your own gas and water bills (so meals can be cooked and you have access to clean water), consider donating a small amount for a family in Yemen, so they too can have access to these necessities.

And as you do so, you are modeling the very spirit of generosity for your children that you want them to grow up having.

So, really, this is an investment in yourself and your future generations.

When you give, you get.

Can you imagine the essence of a life well-lived you’ll get to experience if you leave the world better than when you came in?

Can you imagine the sense of fulfillment you will get when you picture a child YOU saved?

It is a crime in today’s world – not just that bombs get dropped on the people who did nothing to deserve them, but it’s a crime where there are so many resources, yet many millions of children can die because they don’t have access to basic food to survive.

That is a crime in which we are all complicit if we don’t do our part.

What do we live for if not to make the world less difficult for each other?

It might just seem like a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of the missing drop.

Save a life from the comfort of your home

Life is busy, and it can sometimes be easy to forget to show your gratitude for all that you’ve been given. This is your opportunity to show gratitude in less than 5 minutes from the comfort of your own home.

We get it; it sounds almost impossible that we can do anything to help from halfway across the world. Donations may help provide them relief but how can we be sure that the funds actually reach them? And if it does reach them, how can we see the impact of our dollars?

MercyGive is here to make it easy. We have already vetted and partnered up with a registered charity on the ground. Our partners already have the relationships and systems in place on the ground to maximize the impact per dollar of your donations.

With 400,000 children expected to die this year if they do not receive urgent aid, the odds that we may save even 1 child from starving is very much possible with your support.
